You can now watch a recording of Niamh talking about some of her PhD research at the BSAC Gram Negative 2020 meeting: Bridging the gap between the laboratory and the clinic: P. aeruginosa biofilm infection in an ex vivo pig lung model of the cystic fibrosis lung.
We're pleased to make available an open-access protocol for using our CF lung model for antibiotic susceptibility testing. A video protocol will follow, filming has been delayed due to the Ongoing Global Situation. Excitingly, this paper features authorship contributions from an undergraduate summer student and a first-year DTP rotation project. We had a super end to 2020 - two of our papers were made 'editor's choice' in the journal Microbiology. You can read more on the journal website about the in vivo-like growth of S. aureus in our CF lung model, and how growth in host-mimicking medium and in a biofilm model alters the susceptibility of P. aeruginosa to colistin. If you are interested in postdoctoral fellowship opportunities in my lab, or in a short-term research visit, please contact me so that we can discuss funding options. |
