DR BLESSING ANONYE
Generally, I am interested in the study of pathogens, antimicrobial resistance and understanding the gut microbiota in health and in disease. After a Master’s degree in Industrial and Commercial Biotechnology at Newcastle University, I spent 6 months at Demuris Ltd, screening actinomycetes isolated from different environments for the production of antimicrobial compounds. I moved to the University of Cambridge in October 2011 for my PhD with the research performed primarily at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. My PhD project focused on the development of a bacteriotherapy for the treatment of severe Clostridium difficile disease. I joined the University of Warwick in 2016 for a postdoc position in Warwick Medical School on host-pathogen interaction in C. difficile using cellular models of infection. In May 2018, I moved to the School of Life Sciences to work in the Harrison Lab on assessing the potential of a medieval antibiotic to treat infected diabetic ulcers. This research is geared towards the generation of novel topical treatment for diabetic foot infection. |
